Dobro Class

With 6 students at various levels, we've experienced almost every instrument offered at Booher Music Camp and can say that the instruction is superb! The instructors truly care about the students, the jam sessions are inspiring, the concerts are amazing, and the food is delicious! Our family comes away inspired to to make music not just individually, but to combine our new-found knowledge into group collaboration!

Booher camp changed me as a person and as a musician. It was an honor for me to come all the way from Europe for an experience with the most amazing musicians and people I have ever met! When I came to the camp, everyone welcomed me with an open and warm heart which made me feel at home right away. This is an experience that I would recommend to anybody that is trying to reach the next level in their musical studies and anybody that is looking for for the best week of their lives!

Booher Music Camp was family friendly while also providing quality instruction. The feel of the camp was that we were at home with the family and with all our new musical friends. The food is Great! We had fresh blackberries from the property and all the dishes were fresh and wonderful. We highly recommend this camp for it's personable instruction and family feeling.

"We brought 3 children - a guitarist, pianist, and violinist, to the Booher Camp and each child grew musically and emotionally during their time at the Booher Camp. Our week at the Booher Camp was much more than just a music camp. It was time to bond as a family, bond with other musicians and simply enjoy the gift of music and being together. The added bonus was the beautiful setting and hospitality the Booher family provided. We highly recommend this camp to families wanting to experience the joy of music and a family setting."

Attending the Booher Music Camp is truly a unique experience. To describe it as an excellent music camp would fall miserably short. Yes, you will leave full from a huge helping of heart felt, experienced musical instruction, but it also comes with a generous serving of delightful fellowship with likeminded, well-seasoned musicians, finishing everyday with wonderful sweet music from the many talented teachers and students, all washed down with the warm smiles and encouragement from the ever exuberant Booher family. All this is set in a rural western Oregon ambience that rivals many a west coast vacation hot spot. A proven recipe for firing up that musical talent within you and inspiring some who didn't know they had any.
P.S. Don't come while on a diet, because the food is not just plentiful, it's amazing!

Our whole family attended and each of the 4 kids were in classes with different instruments. Not only did they learn a lot and have so much fun, the results continue to be ongoing, having given their confidence and instrumentation such a boost! Thank you for all you do,

As a family who plays music together, we were intrigued when we heard about this music camp hosted by a musical family where one could spend an entire week playing music. We had this event on our wish list for several years, and finally got to attend last summer (July of 2010). The camp exceeded our expectations! Between the five children, we sampled the fiddle, guitar and piano classes. Mom and Dad took bass lessons and Mom sang in the choir. All the teachers were knowledgeable, patient, and full of stories and tips. Since we love music, class time seemed almost like play time. Then to top it off, somehow the organizers seemed to know just what our favorite activities were. The girls learned ball-room dancing, while our 12-year-old brother played some kind of sport for hours each day after classes let out. In the evenings there were jam sessions and concerts, as the beautiful hills around Scott's Valley faded in the dusk and bright stars came out one by one. One of my favorite memories is of singing worship songs around the campfire until midnight. Oh, and did I mention the kitchen crew and food? Excellent! No fast food here! Best of all was the fellowship with other families interested in wholesome music. We recommend this camp to all our friends, and if we get a chance to come back, we most certainly will!

My 6 year old son, Cameron attended the camp last summer as a first time fiddler player. The camp was a gift to our whole family. The atmosphere was beautiful, the people so friendly, and the learning was fun. We would love to attend again each year. Also, the food was amazing. Thank you Booher Family!!!!!

My three children have been taking Suzuki violin for four years and they were getting into a rut and just not very excited about practicing anymore. After a week at the Booher Music Camp, the children had renewed energy and zeal. I will often hear them burst out into a personal rendition of one of their favorite music camp songs for “fun” relief from their classical practice! During camp my thirteen year old son would be found wandering around during free time just practicing the new and exciting songs he was learning. They are so excited for next year's camp and see their need to continue to persevere in practicing all year. My husband and I, who didn't take lessons, especially enjoyed the jam time in the evening when we could listen to all of the students, including our children, playing together in various groups around the Booher property and just having a ball! What a gift this camp has been to our family!

Last year was our first Booher music camp and we decided it would be the first of a yearly tradition. As we all gathered and set up our camps it was the beginning of a sense of family and fellowship and music. We all had a wonderful week. Our 12 yr old daughter had such a good time in her fiddle classes and made wonderful friends playing volleyball in the free times. The quality of the teachers and the music was exceptional. In all ways it was a week of inspiration and one we hope our daughter is able to experience each year. As she grows to adulthood we want her to be surrounded by good music, but even more by men and women and young people who love the Lord and live lives that challenge her to always be learning and growing.

Why do I spend my only real vacation at the Booher Music Camp?
I started coming to the Booher music camp 5 years ago and I don't believe I've missed a summer since. I am a music teacher in the Renton School District, south of Seattle. I started attending camp to improve my violin playing for school, but it evolved into a true desire to add the fiddle to instruments I play on a regular basis. After attending camp, I started a before school fiddle club at the elementary school where I now teach. I have close to 30 kids who come before school on Tuesdays and Thursdays to learn the fiddle tunes I bring back from my days at camp with the Boohers. When I first started trying to learn the violin for my orchestra teaching responsibility, I studied classical and took lessons once a week. I discovered my first year of going to camp that I learned more in one week at camp than I did in my whole year of private lessons!!! Each year, I make huge progress in my playing and it seems they know just what it is I am looking to learn, because as if by magic, my areas of concerns are always covered in my classes. I come back revived, ready to play more fiddle and excited to start teaching again with confidence and an endless collection of materials for myself and young students to pursue on their instruments. Finally, I feel like I am coming home when I go to camp. The atmosphere is filled with love and kindness with the Booher family at the helm guiding us all. We enjoy wonderful meals together and time to hear others play and share their passions for music. People from so many different backgrounds, bringing many styles of music to the camp to enlighten and share with us all. This is my one vacation a year, and if I have to borrow the money to make the trip, so be it. I reap such rewards by coming to camp and studying with such musically talented teachers.
If anyone would like to hear more from me on this subject, my email is pjetur50@comcast.net I could talk for hours on the wonders of the Booher Music Camp

Our family has greatly enjoyed and benefited from attending Booher Music Camp for the last five years. Some years, all of us could not make it, but our son Jonathan and his dad have attended consistently. The camp has been a special time Jonathan has looked forward to each year. He always found the instructors to be patient, helpful, and encouraging and playing music with others during free time, concerts, and jam sessions very fun and motivating. The overall atmosphere of the camp is relaxed, wholesome, and very family-friendly. We have wonderful memories of music, meeting special people, great concerts, frisbee games, fun times working in the kitchen, and delicious home-cooked meals.
